The International Symposium on Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (ISICEM) is organized by the Departments of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine of Erasme University Hospital, University Libre de Bruxelles, in association with the Belgian Society of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (SIZ). The meeting is held every year in March. Started in 1980, this meeting has become established as one of the largest in its field, now attracting more than 6200 participants (including exhibitors and visitors) from countries worldwide.

The 35th ISICEM will be held on March 17-20, 2015 in Brussels Square Meeting Center. In conjunction with this meeting, Elsevier China will organize the China-Europe Summit in Acute Circulatory Failure on March 17.

Acute Circulatory Failure (ACF) refers the dysfunction of circulatory system, which is inadequate to support tissue metabolic needs. There are systemic and local ACF. The manifestation of systemic ACF is the same with Shock, this concept was firstly appealed in the literature earlier in 1918. And recently, much attention is paid again from multidiscipline to it, and there are some related guidelines published as well.

To further discuss this hot issue, Elsevier China has invited the world renowned professor in this field, the current President of World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM), Prof. Jean-Loius Vincent together with a group of leading professors from China to gather in Brussels to exchange their point of views in this area.
