Nutcracker syndrome results from compression of the left renal vein between the superior mesenteric artery and the aorta, leading to symptoms of hematuria and left flank pain. Management options include endovascular or laparoscopic extravascular stent placement, which is very appealing given the minimally invasive nature of these procedures. We report a case of migration of a laparoscopically placed extravascular stent for nutcracker syndrome that was treated successfully by endovascular stent placement. © 2012 National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
